Safety training is an important part of firearm ownership. This is especially important for homes with children. Kids need to learn gun safety as much as adults. Even homes without guns should train their children how to safely handle a firearm. Children who grow up learning the fundamentals of firearm safety and function tend to be disciplined around firearms. Additionally, the “mystique” of guns is diminished. Kids with safe, supervised experience around guns tend to see them as tools to be handled safely.
Our focus will be on the safe handling of firearms. Each participant will go through a safety briefing that speaks to:
Handling firearms safely
Being aware of your target and what’s beyond your target
Reporting procedures when finding an unattended firearm
Safe storage of firearms
The event is entirely FREE and includes FREE Shooting under the supervision of our professional range instructors. We’ve also got FREE food and some fun inflatable bounce houses for the younger kids.
The Erie County 4-H Club will oversee the BB gun range, and we will provide.22 caliber rifles for young shooters to try out. We’ve also got a blowup bounce house and super slide coming for the younger ones. Also, we will have some really cool slingshots and targets to test your skills.
Maybe you are a long-time gun owner with years of experience. You may even be the kind of person who teaches your kids safe firearm usage. However, we all know that reinforcement of principles is critical. Having your kids learn from an expert range instructor with years of experience in military and law enforcement training will drive the principles home. What’s more, your kids will get to have a lot of fun at this event. You may even have some fun! There are a lot of great rimfire rifles that even adults love to shoot.
The event runs all day, Sunday, July 31, 2022, from 10:00 am-4:00 pm. See you there!
